Our independent stance and fresh approach to investment management appeal to both local and global clients looking for flair combined with security. We are quietly confident about what we can achieve for our clients and are committed to:
Whilst no two portfolios are identical, the themes of wealth preservation, diversity, liquidity and income fit well with our own house views, based on many years of experience in periods of market weakness as well as strength. As the name suggests, a discretionary portfolio leaves the day to day management in the hands of one or more of our experienced investment managers, all of whom are qualified with the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment in the UK.
Our clients range from individuals to family offices, trusts, pensions and larger institutions.
From time to time, we are asked to manage investment portfolios where the client wishes to incorporate some ideas in the overall process. Sometimes we have some discretion over part of the portfolio or we may be asked to pass any investment ideas to our clients before dealing on their behalf. At other times, our clients like to make all of the stock selections themselves after discussion with our managers. All of this can be achieved very easily.
In addition to our core business of managing investment portfolios, we also provide a performance analysis facility for clients wishing to have an independent review of a particular investment portfolio or portfolio strategy.
This service is designed to provide additional information analysing a portfolio’s performance, volatility and diversity. It is particularly useful for trustees who may need an independent assessment of a portfolio strategy and can complement existing services, providing constructive feed-back from an independent perspective.
FIM Capital have accrued many years experience of working within the banking sector. We manage cash on a regular basis for all of our client portfolios as well as managing dedicated cash funds for private clients and institutions.
Foreign exchange – swapping one currency for another – is a key part of portfolio management. Predicting exchange rate movements is, however, fraught with difficulty and at FIM Capital we typically incorporate any foreign exchange strategy within a wider portfolio management strategy rather than use it as a stand alone method of capital investment.
Our principal global custodian is BNP Paribas SA in Jersey. BNP Paribas is the largest safe custody bank in Europe. We have worked with the team at BNP Paribas since 2007.
BNP Paribas SA hold most of our client assets in safe custody in a secure ring fenced clients’ account. All securities are now held electronically which reduces risk, speeds up settlement times and significantly cuts down on paperwork. Collective funds are typically held in non-certificated form via our wholly owned subsidiary FIM Nominees Limited.
FIM Capital operate back office facilities for a number of clients. We can deal in the market, arrange safekeeping services, process and reconcile cash and provide a range of administrative facilities for clients wishing to outsource an increasingly complex area to an expert team of securities professionals.

Every Flavour Beans
A man once sat on a bench externalising his thought process, reminiscing on the advice his mother gave him: ‘life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get’. Admittedly, this was a movie, and the man was the fictitious Forrest Gump, but his mother was right; in a lifetime of unpredictability, Masters of Destiny are often disappointed.
